Biography:
This is my second year coaching golf at Oyster River, but have been coaching golf and other sports since I graduated from OR in 1971. I was chair of the soccer and basketball programs in Stratham for 10 years during the 1990’s, coaching both u-14 travel soccer and basketball. These were sports I played at OR. I was co-captain of our 1970 championship soccer team, as the keeper, and captain of the basketball team.
While doing the work in Stratham, I became involved with Seacoast United, in its early years, serving on the board as Vice President during the time the present building in Hampton was envisioned and built.
I have also coached many young players privately in basketball, working mostly with centers/forwards on improving their footwork and low post game. I have also coached each summer for the last 25 years at the Nelson-Sanders basketball camp run by former Celtic greats Don Nelson and Satch Sanders.
The best thing about coaching at OR is the kids, interacting with them and how they roll back my chronological clock, accompanying the feeling that I’m teaching them a bit about golf but mainly about life skills like integrity, honesty, and how to carry oneself in pressure situations.
In 2011, I retired from Liberty Mutual as a resident agent after 34 years with the company. I spend much of my time doing volunteer work for UNH, mostly at the Paul School of Business and as President of the Friends of UNH Basketball. In addition, I work as a starter/marshal at Breakfast Hill Golf Club in Greenland, a definite advantage in my efforts to play as much golf as I can.
